I'd never been entirely sure if Parklane Seafood on Leesburg Road were open or closed, but judging from the fact my most recent trip through the area showed the building up for sale, and some recent comments here, I think it is now clear that the restaurant side of the business is closed while the catering side continues.

This building was the old Flamingo Club. It also appears that the back lot has recently been converted into a garden center.

Update 23 April 2018 -- As commenter Rick notes, this building has been stripped of the canopy and door facade that probably dated back to Dick's Flamingo Club:

It looks like the building is prepped to rent as some sort of three suite office.

UPDATE 5 October 2021 -- Now Performance Medical Supply, Inc.:

  1. I remember when PL Seafood was a pretty good local alternative to Ded Lobster, and ate there pretty often when I was working out in Blythewood in the 80s. I was in their small upstairs addition having an early lunch on January 28, 1986, at 11:38, when the little tv up in the corner let us know space shuttle Challenger had exploded. So we waited for our broiled whatever while the news showed the shuttle blow up over and over and over. Awful.

  2. Oh man that was a bad day! We were out in the woods of Ft. Bragg NC trying to network computers by stringing ethernet through the trees and getting troops to use software that had never quite been finished or tested. It just seemed kind of futile to expect anything to work after that.

  3. Rebekah's Garden had been at the Farmer's Market on Bluff Road for years and moved to this location when the market closed up.

  4. And now Rebekah's Garden is closing in this location, according to the sign.

  5. The owners of Parklane have a house on Lake Wateree and recently opened a restaurant near Colonel Creek Landing in the Colonel Creek Market. Same great seafood and killer hushpuppies with honey butter.

  6. I'm pretty sure that this was te place that we would sometimes stop at for lunch when the tree service that I worked for was working in the area back in 1994. They had a lunch buffet that had a bit more than seafood.

  7. Looks like they're tearing it down. Wonder what's going up in its place?

  8. @Mr BI - I drive past a couple of times a week. I have seen activity going on but it did not appear they were tearing it down. I thought maybe they were remodeling. I'm going to go by and check it out.

  9. Building is still there. I suspect it will probably be demolished at some point, though.

  10. I rode by this location yesterday and noticed three new entry doors are in place of the old doors.
