Reyner's Jewelers / Colonial Finance Loans & Tax Service, 1604 Main Street: 29 August 2011 (moved)   16 comments

Posted at 2:28 am in Uncategorized

Here's a nice little Main Street storefront that was a jewelers at one time -- notice the "display case" window on the right front side.

Colonial Finance was the last operation there, and apparently decamped to the Bi-Lo strip mall on Devine Street at the end of August 2011. I got the name Reyner's Jewelers from a 1948 Columbia Bible College yearbook which is on line for keywords, but which I can't really see without joining a yearbook site. However, notice that you can still see part of the name in the flooring in one of the pictures.

The building as a whole (not just this storefront) is apparently the "Berry Building", the site of the old Berry's On Main.

UPDATE 2 February 2012 -- Here is Colonial Finance's Devine Street location:

  1. According to Historic Columbia's Main Street brochure, this building is called the Manson building and was built in 1911 and modified in the 1940s, 60s and 80s.

This link will give you more about its history:

  3. For some reason, it won't let me upload the link to the WLTX story confirming this...but the Chick-Fil-A on Main Street will close on Feb. 25 due to the fact that they were unable to reach a leasing agreement with the landlord

  8. yeah, Henry. Let's get going on that right away (ha ha.)

Meanwhile. I found a ring at a yard sale that has the name Reyner's on the box. Were they costume jeweler's, or "real" gold and silver pieces. It looks nice, I was just checking it out and realized it might not be costume after all. Anybody know? I'm kind of assuming since it was on Main Street in the 40's, probably decent jewelry, because that was usually where the high class stuff was in the South...

  14. Henry Guarantees no SS or Credit check because that would identify him after he rips you off.
Hey.. Howell Henry, the people on this site are not so stupid as to fall for your Bullsh** offer, unfortunately, as you are probably aware, there are many idiots that do.
    To the idiots, wise up.
To Henry, You will get caught eventually.
And once again, Howell, KMA. On the hole.

  15. Henry has really go some "cohones grande" to be asking all of that personal info over a voice mail. Go ahead, idiots, leave him that information and watch your identity be stolen in a heartbeat. Just another t*rd burglar that will not only take everything you own after you miss one 1000% interest payment but will show up in the middle of the night and take any metal fillings or implants you may possess as well.

BTW - to anyone who calls, there is a banker in Sierra Leone that has found $245,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 that was left to you by an unknown relative. All you have to do is go there with the paltry sum of $250 to get your hands on it. No one will ever see you again but the herd will be thinner by 1......

  16. Homer, you're crazy...that type of $$$ would eclipse the entire Forbes 400 richest people combined (and while you're at it all the combined wealth of the Fortune 500 companies)...anyone who falls for that type of thing would have to have a gullible meter turned up alarmingly high...I did get a good late night kick out of it though...only 54 zeros in the number...
