Cherokee Trail Veterinary Hospital, 5449 Sunset Boulevard: 2010 (moved)   8 comments

Posted at 1:56 am in closing

This interesting looking "modern" building on Sunset Boulevard across from the Lexington Place shopping center caught my eye in the late afternoon sunlight a few weekends ago.

You can see the fenced in pet-run area on the far side of the building, but the vets have moved to 109 Palmetto Park Boulevard. Perhaps they were zoned out of this office. I note that the LoopNet listing for the place says:

Free standing building on 1 acre. Would make excellent Doctor's office, Dentist office, Salon, Spa or similar uses. Prohibited uses include veterinary related types.

I know dogs can be noisy, but it couldn't be any worse than the traffic on Sunset Boulevard!

UPDATE 25 May 2016 -- Now a strip mall anchored by Smashburger:

  1. ok so this stretch of US 378 that contains this chronicled office sees 33.4K VPD

  2. Maybe it has something to do with competition???? It could be in the deed. But then again, there is a Country Club next door.

  3. I am sure they don't want another vet moving in b/c they are afraid people would think it was the same group of doctors. it would be a chance for an upstart to try and springboard off of Cherokee Trail's reputation.

  4. Cherokee Trail built a much larger, nicer, full animal hospital and kennel a little further down Sunset Blvd. They were our vet for many years til our furry friends passed away. And I agree with Keith above, I think they didn't want another vet's office moving in and making $ off of their reputation.

  5. almost positive it was rezoned after they had already planned on the new building.

  6. I think the Waffle House at 7271 Garners Ferry Road was torn down and rebuilt in 2005. The new building's a tiny bit bigger, a little nicer, and the door faces the opposite direction of the old one. (NW vs SE.) Am I right?

  7. They razed this building this week. Not sure what is going to go in this spot, but they are doing something. Lots of construction actually going on along 378 in Lexington from I-20 to SR 6.

  8. This building has been torn down and I noticed signage leading me to believe it has sold but nothing that indicates what might come to this site...
