Aaro Rental Center, 900 Knox Abbott Drive: February 2026 1 comment
This houseware, tool & equipment rental buisiness has been on the corner of Knox Abbott and 9th for as long as I can remember, apparently some 40+ years in all. You can read a 2025 local profile of them in West Metro News, but apparently the time has come to close this location. I don't see any online news about the circumstances, but the firm remains in business with a Two Notch Road location. I never went to this storefront, but the Two Notch one was able to repair my lawn mower a number of times.

Car Title Loans of America, 901 Meeting Street: 2010 no comments
Here's another of the Columbia area's many car title loan businesses that have gone defunct over the past couple of years. The sign says simply Car Title Loans but online I've seen both of America and of South Carolina tacked onto the end. Whatever the name, I don't believe it was was there all that long -- I have noticed this building off and on over the years, and I think that for a long time it was some sort of mobile-home & camping service center with propane and repair parts.
