I've never been to a Del Taco, and had it in my mind that I would try this one someday. In the event, as happens all too often, I did not get around to it before it closed. The place has already been completely gutted, and is in the process of setting up to be a Taco Bell (which I will almost certainly not be visiting). The building was actually fairly new, with Del Taco being a completely new build after the Clear View Car Wash building was razed in 2014.

I see from Wikipedia, that Jack In The Box bought Del Taco, finalizing in March of this year. My guess is that closing this location probably has something to do with JITB's strategy for the chain.

UPDATE 26 January 2023 -- Taco Bell is now open in this spot:

  1. Now I can't comment on there burgers or Fries( I would never buy a burger from a Mexican restaurant and French fries pretty much impossible to mess up) but they have had some solid tacos for low prices. I also enjoyed there nachos. Shame there closing down the only Del Taco in South Carolina for yet another taco bell.

  2. it's ironic that it's being turned into a Taco Bell when one existed in the 90s and early 00s only a few hundred feet further down Harbison.

  3. Del Taco did not last long in Louisville. Maybe 2 years?

  5. I have had Del Taco since being in my teen years as I had move to CA at that time. I love Del Taco! I live in Asheville NC now. I did go to the Harbison BLVD location as soon as I found out it was there on my way to Florence SC area. I visited one in Snelleville GA about 7 yrs ago on my was back from FL. One of the original locations is still open in Barstow CA and many of my CA friends and family drive to that location, since it’s only about a 45 min drive, because they say it’s the best one they’ve been to.
