Cod Tail Seafood & Chicken, 2450 Decker Boulevard: April 2022 8 comments
Cod Tail (a name, which I've said before, I really do not at all like) was the follow-on in this space to Rush's, which closed in 2019. Cod Tail opened sometime after February 2021, meaning it lasted a bit over a year.
Since I don't like seafood, I never checked the place out, but judging by the sign on the drive-through, they were having issues before they actually shut down. It appears that the Charleston location is still open, or at least the web site still works.

Eh, Rush's has been going downhill for years. I doubt this will be the last location that they won't be able to keep afloat.

I've barely heard about Rush's in the past fifteen-ish years. Maybe it's just because no locations are convenient to my home, but I never hear anyone talk about going there.

Does anyone know why Cod & Tail was shut down? It wasn't Cod Tail, it was Cod & Tail. I thought it was a good name because of being a seafood place. Fish type is cod and they have a tail. Cute name. And seafood is delicious.

@Sherry, I never read that hook symbol as an '&' -- my bad!

Per their website, you're correct, Ted, that it's "Cod Tail."

Folks I have discovered this Coladaily article revealing plans for 3 local people (one a piece graduated form Irmo, Lowe Richland & Columbia High) to open a new resuarant called Shakers Theme Bar in this spot after this Cod Tail run and its 1980-2019 run as Rush's...

I just drove past this building and all the coming soon Shakers Theme Bar signs are gone as well.

If Rushs had to close, thats a pretty good indication another restaurant is not going to make it.
