Hola Mexico Restaurant, 10014 Two Notch Road: March 2010 (moved) 14 comments
Well, here's another closing in the same general vicinity of Two Notch. Hola Mexico was somewhat off the road, in a little plaza behind Rush's. I was aware of the place, but had never gotten around to going in there. Reader Nancy writes:
This was a family run business and the food was always excellent.
Too bad.
If you look at the pictures, you can tell that the facade had a South-West theme with cacti that has just been removed. There was work ongoing when I drove by, so perhaps something is in the works.
UPDATE 29 March 2010: Changed post title to add "(Moving?)" based on the comments. Added several more pictures.
UPDATE 16 April 2010: Added picture of the neon sign.
UPDATE 3 June 2010 -- The move into the old McDonald's/ Zesto / Awesome Mattress building is progressing, and the name is finally on the building:
UPDATE 8 May 2011 -- The new location is open, and has been for a while:

Prior to it being a Chinese place, it was a mini-golf estanlishment. If you walk behind it, you can still see all of the greens. They are also visible on google hyrid maps.

This is the best Mexican place to eat..ever! I want to say it originally opened sometime around 2000. I went to neighboring Spring Valley High School at the time and went there for lunch at least a couple of times every week. The owner is extremely nice and actually cares about his customers. After high school, I moved to Charleston for College and Manny (owner) was always pleasantly suprised to see me when I'd stop by when in town. So sad the original closed, but hopefully Cindy is right and they just moved down the street. Best food hands down, have driven across town (I live in Olympia now) just for a chicken burrito haha.

Cindy is right, I know the owner of the old Zesto's on Two Notch and he said they were planning to move into his building.

There is a red stop work order on the door of the old Zesto's where they are doing their moving and remodelling. Apparently the city did not like something and wanted a commercial permit. I saw their liquor license permit application published in the Columbia Star on April 2nd, so hopefully they are getting everything ironed out. It is our FAVORITE restaurant ever and it would be tragic to loose this outstanding gem in a world of chains.

I swear it seems like you need a permit to blow your nose sometimes. I had to get a permit to take down a completely dead tree on my own property..

My husband and I have been eating there for at least 4 years and it is THE ONLY MEXICAN FOOD IN COLA! It rocks! And it has been the same group of men running it since the beginning. We are anxiously awaiting their reopening - hopefully in time for Cinco de Mayo....

I believe it used to be a McDonalds in the 90s.

When this was originally built sometime in the early 90's, it was a Chinese restaurant. Can't remember the name of it though.
