Golden Chick was the follow-on to Wendy's in this (extensively remodeled) spot.

When I did a closing for the Manning location of Golden Chick, I wondered if the Columbia location might be next, as they opened about the same time. Interestingly however, google does not pull up any stories about closings or the chain being in trouble. To the contrary, there are several stories to the effect that 2019 is looking to be a banner year for Golden Chick, so perhaps this chicken is only crossing the road locally.

UPDATE 21 February 2019: Fixed transposed address in post title and tags.

  1. Bummer; a group of us from work used to go there every once in a while, and it was pretty decent. We always got a kick out of the sign on their soft serve machine that announced "Two per costumer [sic]". Note that you have digits transposed in their address; it's 2089, rather than 2809.

  3. I'm surprised this place lasted as long as it did. I passed by here pretty regularly, albeit mostly on weekends, and there was hardly ever a customer.

  5. Always thought it was odd decision - at the time it opened, there was, within very close distance: KFC, Church's, Zesto's, and Zaxby's. I live near there and was super irritated that another chicken place was going in; never actually tried the food. Sure wish we could get an Arby's or something that is NOT chicken there.
