Hardee's, 10391 Ocean Highway (Pawleys Island): December 2018 2 comments
We used to eat travel lunches fairly frequently at Hardee's back in the days of Gilbert Giddyup and Charco-broiled, but since then not so much.
I'm not sure what the issue was with this location, though perhaps running an aging Hardee's right next door to a newly remodeled McDonald's was not viable over the long term. Looking at Yelp, it appears there may have been staffing issues as well. As far as I can tell the Carl's Jr. merger has not helped the chain at all.
I don't believe I ever actually did eat at this location. It used to be that when we had day long work projects at the beach, we would head into Georgetown for breakfast at the Hardee's there, which predates this one. I do generally like Hardee's breakfast items, but over they years, I eat breakfast less and less often. I think if this had been a Red Burrito location, I might have checked it out.

According to The Sun News, this is to be a Dairy Queen.

This is actually a bit of a shock, this always seemed like a well run location. We would go there for breakfast when we didn't feel like cooking or were on the way back from the beach.
I think ted is probably right though, it's hard to compete with McD's for fast food lunch and dinner, not to mention the the Sonic right down the street. And there are plenty of places to eat breakfast at the beach, especially with a Waffle House right next store.
