I don't believe I ever at at this Applebee's, though I was certainly aware it was there. In general, I find the chain to be a decent late night spot for a good burger though they are a bit stingy with the fries.

Judging from the sign, I guess the Two Notch, Blythewood & Devine Street stores must be under different ownership.

UPDATE 12 May 2020 -- As pointed out by commenter Andrew, this is now Pon.Di.River Caribbean Bistro (assuming it makes the transition out of COVID-19 closure):

  1. If SCDOT has it's way, the Harbison location (and the Hooters) will be gone soon enough. The exit ramp will be re-routed through their location. I think that's the plan on both of the remaining options they're considering.

  2. This is definitely a location that I would not have frequented after dark. Much like the one they shut down on O'Neill Ct.

  4. I believe so. It's part of the Carolina Crossroads project where we'll be spending over a Billion dollars to fix Malfunction Junction and the surrounding area. They're also planning on eliminating the Bush River Rd. exit off of I 26. http://www.scdotcarolinacrossroads.com

  5. In order to widen Hard Scrabble Road both a Circle K as well as a self serve car wash had to be closed down (and both have featured here) and so I think something like that is likely to happen with some of the Frontage Road businesses (though it remains to be seen how the details pan out)...

SCDOT began working on this project with public input meetings in 2015 and they're planning to procure construction in 2019.

  6. I'm a little sad to see this one go. Back in the 90s this was a Sunday lunch option for me and my parents. After my Dad died in '95 my Mom and I continued to stop by about once a month. After her death I never went back.
On the upside, we all enjoyed it and never had a complaint. That's saying something. But that was 18 years ago and as stated above; the area has changed a lot.

  7. I'm not sure how ANY ABee's are open ... Apple South's (or whatever wayward VC firm brought them out) business model hasn't kept up w/ the competition ... I frequent one once a decade out of desperation, only to be consistently disappointed ...

  8. So an establishment called Pon Di River Caribbean Bar and Bistro is looking to make a go of this building...
