CW'S Grill, 2000 Clemson Road Suite 18: 2014   3 comments

Posted at 12:24 am in closing

Somehow I have never posted this, though I seem to remember specifically doing it about three separate times..

Anyway, CW's Grill was an outpost of the now defunct Carolina Wings empire located with the now also defunct Pig in Magnolia Pointe at the corner of Clemson & Hardscrabble roads.

As of now, two years after the fact, their website is still up.

I believe the storefront was still empty last time I went by, but I'll have to check next time I get out there.

UPDATE 9 August 2017 -- Looks like this is now "Indulgence" (or "in.dul.gence"):

  1. That place was just awful. Terrible food, staff and lukewarm beer. I remember when it was Carolina Wings and was THE (only) place to go eat in that area and was quite good. Last week as I was cutting through the Magnolia Point shopping center to avoid the nightmare of a traffic light at Hardscrabble, I noticed a tenant has moved into that space. Indulgence Restaurant and Lounge. Their facebook page says they are open but the parking lot was pretty much empty. Seems like the kind of place that doesn't get going until later in the evening though. By the way, the Circle K at the corner of Hardscrabble and Clemson has closed. It looks like they moved to the adjacent corner to where the BP station was.

  2. The BP station Clay spoke of was originally a Kangaroo Express. Kangaroo Express sold out to Circle K and the Kangaroo Express locations are being rebranded Circle K (I hate to see Kangaroo Express go but do generally like Circle K (mainly because of their car washes).

Hard Scrabble is about to start being widened (which is over 10 years overdue) and apparently the land the original Circle K sits on is going to be heavily impacted by the land needed to widen it (as will Living Springs Lutheran). The intersection will require massive upgrading as it is a very congestion-prone intersection but land availability is tricky...

The widening runs from Farrow to Kelly Mill Road. A part of me wishes that Hard Scrabble and I-77 becomes an interchange of its own so as to alleviate some of the Killian congestion (esp. from Downtown Columbia).

  3. When CW's Grill closed another place opened up, it's called Indulgence. Not sure if it is still open or not. It's for the older R&B (music) type of crowd.
