Now the chicken you can't get here goes well with the tacos you can't get next door.

Like I said before, I hope this is the first of many. In my opinion Church's has the worst chicken of any of the fast foos joints.

I loved this place for the following reasons: #1 it was close to work, #2 they had fried okra (which was quite good compared to say Lizard's Thicket) (and I can't think of any other fast food joints that sell fried okra!), #3 there was always a mini survey on the back of the receipt where you could take the survey and on your next visit get a FREE 2 PIECE MEAL AND A BISCUIT AND A SIDE!

I did this many times over the years! Free lunch and just had to purchase a small drink!

#4 I loved the taste of the greasy chicken! My Mom used to make fried chicken for us as kids and Church's reminded me so much of Mama's chicken!

#5 They had Coke products! I am not, repeat not a Pepsi drinker! And there offered plenty of refills at a self serve drink dispenser!

Going to miss this Church's Chicken very much!

While there are several Church's Chicken locations around but don't hold your breath for me to set foot in one (ditto for Homer and Rick)...

I like having the self-serve beverage bar myself (I think that is a reason why I've shied away from Chick-Fil-A)...

I've never been buy my late grandmother's indication that it was really greasy has had me hesitant to set foot in one.

I guess the survey was a gimmick in order to get more people in the door to make it look like people were actually buying product.

My Mom's fried chicken was never greasy. Just juicy, spicy and plain good!!!

The only thing I like Coke in is a mixed drink. Other that that give me a Pepsi or an RC any day.

All Church's is good for is relatively cheap chicken and it shows!!

I've never done it but I've noticed that Burger King has an option on the back of their receipts that you can take a survey and get a free whopper on your next visit within a certain timeframe.

Lately when I've been to the Post Office the clerk will circle a site that comes with a smartphone QR code where you can take a survey on your postal experience encouraging you to do it...many stores encourage it as well but I haven't done too many of them (most of them allow you to enter you into a chance to win some type of gift card.

I'll eat fried chicken but my preference is for boneless because it's not as messy...

I don't have any strong leanings towards Coke or Pepsi and will drink either one just as easily but I miss KFC having Wild Cherry Pepsi...they started offering strips (now they have tenders) and I finally started warming up to KFC. I avoid Diet brands like the plague because of aspartame (I've heard a lady rant against it several times on a late night talk show I used to fall asleep to and it has ruined my ability to enjoy gum or any beverage that has that stuff)...ditto for (insert Coke product here) Zero...

The only receipt offer I use is the Kroger gas rewards survey that you get nearly every time you shop there. For every $100 you spend you get $.10 off every gallon of gas. By filling out the survey, you get an automatic $50 worth of points added to your card. It might not sound like much but if you buy groceries like I do, it adds up.

Too bad, it doesn't count toward cigarettes and booze...:(

On top of that, I pay for my gas, groceries and everything else, with my Chase Amazon card. I can't tell you the last time I actually paid cash for anything on Amazon.

  4. Another Church's bites the dust....

Construction on a new eating place of some sort is underway (idk what just yet) on the site of this one...

As this construction continues, I've become aware that a Church's Chicken at 1301 Charleston Highway has now closed up shop...

  5. I was wrong in thinking this will be an eating place...it turns out that this will be a place called Take 5 that is billing themselves as one with the quickest oil change...

  6. Take 5 Oil change is now open here...
