Devine Street / Crowson Road / Fort Jackson Boulevard: 4 October 2015 7 comments
I took a few minutes to walk Crowson Road between Devine and Fort Jackson Boulevard today. I did not attempt to go onto the old Kmart which was rather cordoned off, but work is definitely underway back there. I heard from a waitress at Ruby Tuesday that the pet store unfortunately lost some animals during the flood. Currently none of those stores are open.
The Subway and Title Loans are in a little better shape than TitleMax across the street. I can see these buildings being restored.
The bridge across Gills Creek into the old Kmart is closed. I'm not sure if they were working to widen it beforehand and it's not done or if there was flood damage to it.
Egg Roll Chen (Station) looked to be OK, but there's not really a way to get to it right now with Crowson closed to traffic.
La Brasca's and Chocolate Nirvana look to be closed.
Moe's is open again.
Smashburger is set to re-open tomorrow (22 October 2015).
UPDATE 20 June 2018 -- The Crowson Road Subway will finally be reopening, though not in the flood damaged building (which I guess will be for the excavator if all the insurance issues are settled). The new location will be across the street by Staples in the Bi-Lo plaza:
UPDATE 18 March 2019 -- I probably should create separate posts for some of these businesses to make these updates less confusing, but the old Subway has been torn down (and the Title Loan building is about to go). The lot will henceforward be green sapce:

@Justin -- well my source was highly unofficial -- a waitress at Ruby Tuesday so I could be, and hope I am, wrong.

I believe Fort Jackson Boulevard is once again open.
The Free Times reports that LaBrasca's is open for take-out, Julia’s German Stammisch is still closed, Chocolate Nirvana Bakery & Café is extensively damaged and still closed and Egg Roll Chen is open.

WIS ran an update announcing progress on the plans to reopen Rosewood Crossing soon which I was happy to read as my heart broke Rosewood Crossing area more than anything when the flooding happened...

The State ran an article talking about Subway's recent move next door to Staples at Crossroads Commons (4464 Devine Street) and talking about possbilities to convert the old Subway & Title loan buildings into greenspaces (which isn't a bad idea IMO)...

The new Subway location may have been a Private P.O. store when the center was new in the 90s.

WIS had an article indicating that the TitleMax building is having its date with the excavator today with the help of a FEMA grant (and it will be a green space which seems to be for the best in this case)...

WIS had a report today about the damage Rosewood Crossing incurred and the repair process. It does offer hope that Rosewood Crossing can get rebuilt but it will likely take until sometime in February or March for it to be complete
BTW I was contemplating that it'd be a good idea to work this flood post (and the other one covering Forest Acres/Dentsville) into the Alphabetical Closings list in some form or fashion...

I only have a reporter's tweet to go on, but I had heard it reported that all animals from that store had been safely removed before the storm. Again, only a reporter's tweet.
