This little Barber & hair and nail salon sits in a strip mall almost at the intersection Decker and Faraway.

I like those old style spinning barber poles, though you never actually seem them spin anymore.

  1. There are two reasons why you don't see too many spinning barber polls any more. The first is the cost. A good vintage one can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars, while the cheapest I have seen newer ones go on e-bay for around three to four hundred dollars. (My grandfather was a barber so I looked into getting one for my father as a present, that's how I know.)
    The other reason is that in SC in order to have a barber's license you have to demonstrate that you know how to shave a person and offer shaves in your barbershop. For a beautician's license, you don't, som most people, amle and female, who are going into the hair styling business these days are opting for the latter, which is why you are seeing fewer and fewer "old time" barber shops these days.
