New York Butcher Shoppe & Grille, 5 Lake Carolina Way Suite 160: Early April 2012 5 comments
From Forest Acres, it's easier to get to downtown Camden than to Lake Carolina, and in fact, I have only been there once before. My previous visit was at night, so I saw a bit more of the commercial area today. My impressions are that a) it's a nice safe seeming place where kids draw hop-scotch diagrams on the sidewalks and that b) it's hurting like everywhere else. I certainly could not describe the place as bustling, and there seemed to be a number of vacancies.
New York Butcher Shop & Grille is an upstate company with locations in SC, NC, GA & AL. From this State story from the restaurant's opening in 2010, it sounds a nice place, with enough down-to-earth fare (giant burgers..) that I might have been tempted to check it out (if I had ever heard of it, and if I were willing to fight my way to Lake Carolina..).

There is a small chain of New York Butcher Shoppes, with one in Mt. Pleasant I have been in. Don't know if the Lake Carolina one was part of this chain. What did their sign look like?

It was part of the chain, but it also had a full restaurant at this location. I ate there once, and the food was very good but ridiculously overpriced so I never went back.

We stopped here once shortly after they opened for a lunch sandwich, which they advertised on a board out front. We were the only ones there, took 1/2 hour to make 2 sandwiches and there was nowhere to sit and eat (restaurant portion was only open at night and no chairs outside). I recall the sandwiches were very good... but very expensive. Looked at the restaurant menu, and didn't see anything worth going back for. The place lasted much longer than I expected it to.

Prior to being here, NY Butcher Shoppe had a location at 4561 Hard Scrabble Road. I think it's now Marco's Pizza but I am not 100% sure.
Lake Carolina has been a 'community of the year' and while I enjoy Northeast Richland from the St. Andrews area, I simply don't make it into Lake Carolina the times I'm out in that section of town.
Supposedly Logan Raye had a salon out there after they left the Vista but I went through this area looking for it to no avail.
