Cloud Nine Market, 916 Gervais Street: 24 Nov 2010 5 comments
Here's another closing in The Vista, this one right on the main Gervais corridor.
I find it a little curious that they are closing on the Wednesday right before Thanksgiving rather than staying open through Black Friday, but I suppose that if you've already planned to close, there's no point in ruining your Thanksgiving to be ready for one more day.
(Hat tip to commenter Larry. Looking at his comment again, it appears that the original plan was in fact to go through Black Friday and into December..)

I think that they have been more successful at liquidating their stock and fixtures, and rather than push into the next month (more rent, etc.) they're just finishing out sooner. Plus the 18th was Vista Lights, which I figure helped them with getting rid of even more stuff. Great guys, they'll be missed as will Cloud 9, they had some good stuff and their food was also quite good.

This building dates to 1918 and was recently used as a upscale big and tall men's store run by former USC basketball player Perry Dozier..

Is this building at 916 Gervais Street directly across from Whitash?

About this time last year, the Dutch Square Kmart was supposed to close on Nov. 15 but it wound up being pushed up a week so something similar probably went on with this one...I am not sure of the details but that is likely what happened...
