Smashburger, 5449 Sunset Boulevard: March 2019 8 comments
I like Smashburger burgers, and their choice of buns (espically the chipolte one), but the fries are so bad that it's not really a competitor to Five Guys in my mind. Nonetheless, every few months I do eat at the Devine Street location.
This particular location is in the new shopping center that was built after tearing down the old Cherokee Trail Veterinary Hospital. I believe that Smashburger was the initial tenant in this suite, and the first tenant of the strip to exit. (Even its Mattress Firm still survives).

Food is not bad, nothing special, but , Too expensive for a competitive fast food alternate to Mc D, Burger King, Arby's, Chick Filet, Wendy's, Carl's/Hardies who have the lion's share of the market. Just a thinning of the hurd!

Funny, the fries were the only thing I liked.

I initially liked Smash Burger, but my last 2 or 3 visits have not been good. The prices are too high for what you get, the food is mediocre, and the service is not good. I have no desire to visit one again.

Smashburger isnt any better or worse than anyone else except McDonalds maybe..and PDQ is bad. 5 Guys is still the best overall I think.

My wife and I first discovered Smashburger when we lived in Colorado several years ago. We liked the burgers, and the fries w/ rosemary were good, but their fries are definitely nowhere near the best. Also, when a Five Guys finally opened up near where we lived at that time, suffice to say we did not go to Smashburger anymore. We were both surprised to see Smashburger appear in the Columbia area soon after we left to go to Colorado years ago.
