Robbie D. Wood, 1701 Pineview Road: Spring 2025 2 comments
I was unfamiliar with the Robbie D. Wood company, but it appears they are truckers who specialize in "hazardous waste transportation and chemical product transportation", and they are still in business.
It's not entirely clear when they left this Pineview Road location, but I have one indication that the site sold in April 2025. However it appears to be back on the market now, with a real estate sign which appears to correspond to this listing. The property is pretty deep, definitely much larger than it appears from the front.

UPDATE 25 November 2025: Commenter Gypsie points out that it was actually commenter Badger who called out this closing. I blame it on my fingers: Bad fingers!
Merritt Veterinary Supplies, 1520 Pineview Road: 2017 1 comment
I noticed this empty building on Pineview a few weeks back. It turns out to have been Merritt Veterinary Supplies which was a Columbia based company:
Merritt is headquartered in Columbia, South Carolina, and was founded in 1938 by veterinarian Dr. Lloyd Merritt and his wife. Merritt has about 150 employees and offers a comprehensive line of products, including pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, and equipment, some on an exclusive basis.
Merritt was bought last year by Henry Schein with the purchase finalizing in October 2017. I'm guessing the local office closed not long after that. Currently the building is vacant, but has been sold, so perhaps something else will be coming in soon.

I took the first pictures above after commenter Badger mentioned that the place was for sale. I kept meaning to do a follow-up run so I could get some post closing pictures, but somehow could never remember exactly where it was (and had forgotten the name so I couldn't google it). Anyway, I did find it again, and it is definitely closed. I got out of the car and walked around for the post closing shots, and it is interesting that the place appears to be essentially a double-wide trailer, or two single-wides hooked together. I'm not sure exactly how the plumbing on the back wall worked, but from the shots on the unofficial Facebook page, I'm guessing there was an added on back deck where bands set up.
It looks like a quirky little place I would have liked to visit.
