This little financial center was in the old A & P shopping center at the top of the hill on Sunset Drive. Most recently the complex was a church, but there remained a few commercial storefronts during that phase. In fact, as far as I can tell, the adjacent beauty parlor is still open for business.

Apart from the old "steeple" style A & P architecture, this part of the plaza is interesting for the skylights which you can see in the fifth picture. Somehow the name Cash-O-Matic invokes the same era as the buildings.

  1. Cash-O-Matic, Keg-O-Nails, I have a Drawer-O-Junk and I left a Pile-O-S--T in the toilet, if anyone is interested.

  5. I ate a plate-o-shrimp, had a gallon-o-tea, then I probably drank a pint-o-tequila, that's when I had to go drop a load-o-you know.

Anyway I have always thought the "O" in the middle of a name or statement as such, was short for the word "of" I must be mistaken if Cash-O-Matic is correct, because Cash of Matic does not sound right to me.
For example, Keg of Nails, Plate of Shrimp and the drawer in my kitchen that I call my drawer of junk sounds correct to me.
    I also have a box-o-bolts, a basket-o-light bulbs, a can-o-nails, etc.

  6. Bits-O-Pig BBQ is one thing but a Cruise-O-Matic transmission is another. It works both ways.

  7. @Rick - I used to think the same thing about Micky D's prefixing everything with 'Mc'. After eating two McRibs and washing them down with a McFlurry I had to go to the McLoo and take a McDump...... Of course I could have had a Filet-o-Fish.....

  8. @Rick - ahhh tequila, say no more. When I turned 50 several friends took me to Group Therapy for happy hour (which turned into hours) where we proceeded to do enough tequila shots to support the Mexican economy for at least 5 years. I woke up at 4:00 am in a room at the Claussens' Inn in pitch darkness. Had to whiz like a race horse and had no clue where the bathroom, much less a light switch was.

Now, turning 56 in less that two weeks, I still have a bottle of Patron that was given to me that night, silently aging in a dark corner of my pantry. Maybe I'll take it out when I retire...

  9. Homer talking about how McDonald's adds 'Mc' to everything reminds me of a tendency of Delta Air Lines to utilize the term Sky with their stuff..case in point:

Their priority boarding is called SkyPriority.

The frequent flyer program is called SkyMiles.

They are a founding member of the SkyTeam alliance.

  10. @Homer- Now you have me laughing with your Micky D comment. That was a whole lot better than my attempt to be funny, just for the fact that you finished it with Filet-O-Fish which is another name of something with the "O" in the middle of the name.
Now that we have brought the "O" spasm to light, I believe using it in a name or to describe something is a Crock-O-$h!+.

@Andrew- They could have had the Skymile High Club.

  11. @Homer- I read it a second time and laughed again.

  13. @Sidney - Thanks! This post asked for it....lol.

@Rick - in parts of Europe Micky D's serves McBeer. If they did that over here maybe I'd have a reason to eat more of the McCrap off of their menu.....just sayin....

  14. Here are some ideas I've had with Delta's Sky tendency:

The SkyBoarding process is about to begin, if you will check your SkyBoarding pass and board only with your SkyZone is called...

The SkyBeverage service will begin shortly...copies are available

Delta's SkyNetwork takes you to over 240 destinations daily worldwide (with hundreds more possibilities via our sister SkyTeam airlines) ...

Folks, From the flight deck, our skylanding in Atlanta should be taking place shortly, we would like to ask that our SkyCabin crew prepare for landing and everyone take their SkySeats accordingly...

  16. @Rick - I had to revisit this post after I found the McSurfNTurf. A Big Mac, McChicken, Filet-O-Fish and a Sausage McMuffin all rolled into one. Should have been called the McHurl 'N' Squirt.

  17. @Homer - What a sandwich, it looks like the only thing missing is the happy meal toy. I see McDonalds is on the defensive right now with workers protesting at McDonalds headquarters. The workers claim the pay is to low and McDonalds is trying to keep it from escalating but, at the same time not agreeing to pay raises. And their sales have been iffy, maybe we could help them to increase sales with some new menu items and names, the McHurl 'N' Squirt could be first on the list. Lol.
