Goodyear Auto Service Center / Mr. Shine Car Care Center / AAA Automotive: 706 12th Street: late 2000s   6 comments

I have to say that the mascots for AAA Automotive are a pretty rough looking bunch. The middle one reminds me of a buffed up version of the boss elf from Rudolph, the one that didn't want Herbie to be a dentist.

I see various versions of the Goodyear name when googling this Triangle City address at the corner of 12th Street & D Avenue in West Columbia including the version I used, Goodyear Auto Service Center, as well as Goodyear Tire & Rubber and Goodyear Gemini Auto Care. Mr. Shine seems to have been a carwash operation, and during either the Goodyear or AAA days the place apparently rented U-Haul trailers as well.

It appears that the building was on the market at one point, but LoopNet says that's no longer the case, and indeed the real-estate sign out front offers to lease rather than sell.

  1. 12th street has a lot of potential for redevelopment once the Amazon building is operational, their employees will increase traffic volume down that street.

  2. Hello,

I saw they are doing a gut job at the old O'Charlies restaurant on Harbison. Anyone know anything about what is going on there. They are also doing the same thing at the old Goodies near Dicks Sporting Goods.

  3. @William, pls. keep an eye on the comments on the O'Charley's page for that one. As far as Goody's, I am not sure except I saw a building permit for interior demolition but if you pull up the site plan for Columbiana Station it shows the 45,500 ft² space as available. So I am not sure.

  4. I am proud to say that this building will not be vacant anymore! Automotive Tekniques, a independent service and repair shop, will be opening September 1st.
