There's been a lot of land cleared on the South side of the road between those two intersections.

  1. Housing development called Colonels Creek

Also on the agenda is a request for approval of street names for Colonel's Creek housing subdivision under construction along Percival Road, between Clemson and Spears Creek roads across from Fort Jackson. Development of the 159-acre site was approved earlier this year and developers have submitted a list of preferred street names that include Artillery Lane, Barracks Road, Defend Court, Grenade Road, Infantry Lane, Battalion Road, National Honor Road, Half Mast Way, Field Strip Road, Paratrooper Lane, and Division Road.

  2. On a related note, they are clearing out a large parcel of land in front of the Ballentine Branch of the Richland Library.

  3. Speaking of the RCPL Ballentine Library branch Tom referenced, I have noticed some land across the street from the section of Dutch Fork Crossing that has Popeye's, Taco Bell, Little Caesars, Dollar Tree, etc. that property that had several residences on it but now it looks like that property is being prepped for something but the details are unclear at this point...

  4. I’ve heard rumors that an actual Whataburger - not the West Columbia version could be going in that area near Ballentine. I’ve also seen plans for a Biscuitville restaurant in that zip code but not sure if it’s closer to Lake Murray Blvd or out in that area of Irmo.

  5. The Whataburger rumor Larry mentioned will be particularly ironic as I have long been amused by all the burger places in that immediately vicinity (i.e. Freddy's, Sonic, Hwy 55 - and heck even Arby's has burgers now), so Whataburger will fit right in. The Hardees up the street was probably a casualty of this glut of burger places.

Personally I wish they'd find a spot for a fast-casual mexican type place such as Salsarita's, Qdoba, Moe's, or Chipotle, etc.

  6. We had heard that the Ballentine parcel was going to be an Aldi.
