Greyhound Station, 2015 Gervais Street: April 2015 (moved) 1 comment

The Greyhound Station on Gervais Street moved earlier this month, and now the buildings on the lot (which included the Chapman Dodge building) have been razed. Unlike the old art deco station downtown on Sumter Street, this one was nothing special, and I'm not sorry to see it gone.
I had a chat with the project manager for the site, and he said the whole block that the station sat on will become apartments.
The new station is at 710 Buckner Road, which is the I-20 frontage road between Monticello Road & US-321.

Comment: My vision when it was noted apartments that it would likely be a mix of USC students and/or professionals working downtown that don't want to have to deal with the suburban commute on a daily basis.
But then again, I wouldn't put it past them to make this student housing for Allen University, either.
I noted on the Chapman Dodge page when I noted this station had relocated that this block was liable to be prime for some type of redevelopment so I guess this is it. Either way, I think it will make better use of this piece of real estate.

It looks like the Chicken Man was across the street at the Exxon this past Saturday (5/24). Nice man. Not sure if that will be his "permanent" setup or not.
