Five Guys, 4751 Forest Drive: 20 January 2013 / April 2023 (Closed Again [Temporary]) 8 comments
I noticed yesterday that Five Guys on Forest Drive in the old Forest Lake Exxon building was closed. I figured maybe they were buffing the floor or fixing some sort of plumbing issue, but they remained closed on Monday and from what I can see (which isn't too much as I couldn't get a close look) there is major work going on in there. The website doesn't offer any additional information other than "closed today", but the fact that it's still listed leaves me to believe they will be back.
It will be interesting to see what they are doing, as the building was completely refitted just a few years ago.
UPDATE 23 January 2013: Added some daylight pictures, though still not very good ones.
UPDATE 31 Jan 2013; Work is complete and the place is open again.
UPDATE 1 May 2023: Interestingly, this is about ten years since my last update to this post. Five Guys is closed again for renovations, and is expected to reopen on 12 May 2023. I'm not sure exactly what needed changing: I've eaten there several times recently, and the place seemed to be in pretty good shape. I guess my least favorite thing is the faux-wood chairs, but obviously that's not the issue here.
(Also updating tags and adding the map icon)
UPDATE 6 June 2023 -- As mentioned, open again:

I noticed this last night and it looks like the work includes reworking the outside area underneath the metal skeleton of the gas station awning. It looks like they have demolished the concrete. I'm assuming they are putting in some kind of brick patio.

The Lexington location has "al fresco" dining, so it could very well be a brick patio. I haven't seen this location in person but from the pictures it looks like a good use of the old gas station.

I kind of wish the Freestyle would stop being a thing. The trouble with a beverage dispenser that has nine million options (estimated) is that everyone who wants a drink needs to scroll through all nine million options, which takes forever.

Jason, that's precisely why I think it is a stupid idea doomed to failure.

We ate there on the 19th. There were signs on all the doors indicating they would close on the 20th for major remodeling and re-open on the 28th.

I went by earlier this week and suspect this place has reopened (But the Freestyle wasn't a part of said reopening (at least not yet)

Yes, it is definitely open again though I haven't yet gotten a picture. I'll go ahead and update the status anyway.

Sounds like a remodeling...I have a feeling that Five Guys will eventually have the Coco-Cola Freestyle so this could very well mean that the time has come for Five Guys to get it...
Stay tuned...
