Spring Valley Commons is the Bi-Lo shopping center at the corner of Two Notch and Rabon Roads. I've always thought of it as a strictly retail location, but the old theater has added an office suite in addition to the self-storage slots, and this storefront on the Bi-Lo side seems as though it would have catered much more to doctors' offices than to walkup traffic. I'm not sure when it closed, but it is listed in the February 2012 phonebook, so I'm just going with '2012'.

  1. I just saw a TV ad for these guys about a week ago. Must have been a quick closure. Wonder if the one in W. Columbia is still open?

  2. Interesting. I wondered if they might have moved, but the phone number given first in the book for this location is definitely disconnected.

  3. Not sure. I did a Yahoo search and got a hit for one at 113 Kings Mill Rd, Columbia, SC (Forest Acres) but if you go to their website you get a location for 2249 Augusta Road, West Columbia. No mention there of the Forest Acres location.

BTW - thanks for the pictures from the State Fair. I didn't get a chance to go this year but it looks like some of my relatives won some ribbons with their corn. I did a double take when looking at the pics. I was, like, "I know them.":^)

  4. They had two locations, now only west cola is open. I don't remember which units, but one used to be a Staffmark employment service in the mid 2000s. Another was a bar called Brewsters in the mid 90s. My siter worked there and they had live music often.

  5. Interesting. Since posting this, my sister told me that the ads (which I never saw..) make it more of a consumer-oriented "I need to make sure what happened in Vegas stayed in Vegas" thing than the physican-oriented operation I was envisioning..

  6. @Ted - I tend to agree with your sister. I caught another TV ad out of the corner of my eye yesterday for them and it seemed to cater to the "Let me take a quick drug test to see if I fail" rather than an actual drug screening facility. I don't recall the ad ever giving an address, just a phone number.
