O'Charley's / Sticky Fingers Ribhouse, 7001 Parklane Road (Columbia Mall Outparcel): mid 2000s   12 comments

Posted at 11:23 pm in closing

Sticky Fingers was yet another victim of the declining fortunes of the Dentsville area. I believe that they were the second tenant in this building, which was built for O'Charleys before that operation followed The Olive Garden, Lizard's Thicket, Circuit City, Target, Office Depot, JC Penny and Kroger Sav-On to the new developments further out on Two Notch or at Sandhill. The closing sign says they lasted five years, though I woudn't have guessed that long.

I can't comment on their ribs as I'm not a rib guy. I believe I ate there only twice and had a burger both times. It was fine, though not spectacular. I'm a little curious about what's going on with the building. It appears to have been kept in pretty good shape, and to have not been cleaned out (notice the gum machines still in there). Furthermore, I didn't see a for-sale or for-lease sign anywhere. I wonder if Sticky Fingers is holding on to it for some reason.

UPDATE 16 May 2010 -- It's now a "brazillian-style" restaurant, Caprioska:

  1. That building and the Crabshak were built long after that area died. I think maybe they were hoping some sort of revival was going to occur.
It'd be nice for Columbia Mall to get a new life, seems as if Harbison and Sandhills are struggling.

  2. I concur. I believe those places were put up when they did the interior and exterior makeover of the Mall in a valiant, though ultimately futile, attempt at revitalizing the area.

  3. I think this started out as an O'charleys. I never cared for sticky fingers. The one at harbison usually had bad service and bland food.

  5. Dentsville and Columbia Mall (Columbia Place) which I think is a really stupid name and would like to congradulated the one that came up with name.. Anyhow, Columbia Mall is a dead mall and is on the decline..poor old Dutch Square I'm surprized is still around too. Columbia Centre is still busy all the time, but how much longer can they last? Kmart needs to close in Dentsville too. Like the Bob Dylan song say's.. The Times they are a changin'...

  7. What other mall is there? I would assume columbiana cetre will last until another mall is built somewhere. (but i don't see that happening anytime soon)

  8. I was thinking there was some sort of crab place there, Crab Shack or something (I see another comment that mentions it), but when I google the address, the only thing that comes up is Sticky Fingers. I'm going to have to go up there and find out for sure if the crab place is even still there.

It's sad that they took away all the Sticky Fingers in the region. I've never had their burgers, but their barbecue was amazing. At least Walmart and Bi-Lo carry their sauces.

  9. It's "Charleston Crab House", and it's the next building over, not this one..

  10. Ah. I knew I remembered seeing a crab place, but my memory is not all that great. Not that I was ever really paying much attention to that space. I just remember it being an O'Charley's once upon a time, I'm not even sure I knew it ever was a Sticky Fingers.

  11. I love ribs, and enjoyed one or two visits here with my family before they were gone. My daughter is still a BIG fanatic of their mustard-based sauce, as am I. We've been to Caprioska's once, near their opening and while the interior was pretty bleak, the food was very good. I also ordered take-out via 256togo.com for 'game night' with the guys and everybody enjoyed the food.

I had also been here when it was O'Charley's quite a few times, I think I was working down the street at the time and it was a lunch option. It was good as O'Charley's, but for some reason I just don't go to that chain that often these days.

  12. I miss the place too. The lunch crowd always seemed to be really good. If you didn't get there by 11:30am, you'd have to take one of those LED pagers. The ribs were amazing. They actually tasted like there was some smoke involved. Something sadly lacking in most of the BBQ places around here save Hudson's on Sunset (Which is also an amazing place).

From what I've heard, a big lunch crowd wasn't enough to sustain that place. They needed a big dinner crowd too which they didn't get.
