I got off kind of on the wrong foot with Rita's as I read their slogan Ice Custard Happiness before walking over from Barnes & Noble and was expecting some rich frozen custard treat. In the event, I ended up with something like an Icee. Looking at their menu, I now see that I should have explicitly mentioned the word "custard" in my order rather than just specifying a flavor. Oh well.

You can see a small portion of the shop in operation in the first picture in the Sesame Inn closing. In the meantime, you can still get your fix across town at the Sandhill location.

  1. I have to admit that I have tired Rita's a couple of times and never liked it. The times that I was there they were always busy. I just did not like the texture of the product and I did not like it mixed with the custard either.

  2. I tend to shy away from ice cream places. Believe it or not I have enjoyed the soft serve machine that Ryan's has when I've eaten there but I've grown unimpressed with their food the times I've eaten there.

Believe it or not Aldi has a good ice cream that most everything else has a hard time measuring up to for some reason...

  3. I like Rita's, I just don't like not knowing what flavors are available until I get up to the menu (I go through the drive-thru). About the best thing I've had there is if the banana ice is an option that day, mixing it with vanilla custard and vanilla wafers. On a hot summer day one of those is everything that's right in the world.
