Mae's On Main, 121 East Main Street (Lexington): March 2013 (moved/renamed) 2 comments
Although I didn't realize at the time I did that closing, apparently Mae's On Main in Lexington has moved to the Round Robin location on Devine Street. I'm not sure where Devine Robin fits in -- as of yet, the Round Robin marquee is still up.
The Lexington location has a classic "old retail" look. A lot of interior work is ongoing there, so hopefully something new will go in before too long. Or before the fat lady sings, anyway.

I always think about it as stores that look like the old Paperback Exchange at 1234 Assembly. (No pix, unfortunately). There are some on King Street in Charleston too.

Ted, I was thinking the same thing as I was viewing the pictures. This store definitely is of the "old retail" design - the deeply inset doors and the large display windows. It made me think of a lot of the old storefronts that used to be on Main St. in Columbia. My Grandmother and aunt used to shop in Lexington regularly, back in the days when Session's department store was open. After shopping they would always eat at the Lexington Arms, or whatever incarnation it was at the time. After all this was the 70's to early 80's.
