The Woody moved from the Vista to this Main Street corner in 2020, and continued in operation after the passing of founder Woody Windham last year. Unfortunately with the new SC liquor liability laws, the family is unable to keep the doors open past October.

They say they hope to open in a new location as a real restaurant, but there are no firm plans for that yet.

In the meantime, the upstairs neighbor, Hendrix, will be taking over the space to open a pizza restaurant.

You can read about the closing in ColaDaily, The Post & Courier, The State, and on WLTX.

It seems to me that South Carolina's nightlife scene has been greatly altered almost surreptitiously & through the back door.

  1. I am still hearing ads on the radio Woody did for a tree removal service. Ironically, in the ad it mentions the founder of the tree service company had recently died!

  2. Well, I'm certainly out of it. Had no idea he passed away last year. I used to listen to the oldies station in Columbia when I lived there, and I know it went off air sometime after I left Columbia in the early 2010s. I enjoyed his morning show and when he'd also have on Tommy Moody, someone else who has passed on in recent years.

  3. That tree service ad is a few years old now. Nice to hear his voice though.
