Payless Shoe Source, 4732 Devine Street: 9 November 2013 4 comments
This Payless shoe store was at the corner of Devine & Rosewood, not far from the old Taco Bell and the Rosewood Blockbuster.
One sign says that the store is relocating, but while I hope the employees were able to move, I think this is really just a call-out to an already existing other store.
I believe I still have a pair of shoes from Payless, though I'm not sure it was this store, that have lasted quite a few years. Of course, I only wear them to weddings and funerals, so there has not been a lot of wear & tear.

Concerning the Exxon station, I'll C&P my comments from almost two years ago, much further up the thread:
The Exxon station mentioned above on Garners Ferry where Payless and Church's are currently located was Frank Cone's Exxon. I know it was still operating in 1991. One of his employees was a smallish chap appropriately referred to as "Shorty." Have no idea what his real name was. Looked like a combination of Wishbone from "Rawhide" and Ernest T. Bass.badger

The empty storefront to the right of Advance America was Fields Chiropractic. I believe they are still in business just at a different location.

I was wondering what the other spot was and thanks to what Rick said I did a little searching and found that Fields Chiopratic is now located 3930 Devine Street...
My inclination is that, with the new Rosewood Crossing development coming to the former Kmart across the street, this spot will be a little more attractive to some other folks (only time will tell)

Originally, this location was an Exxon (esso) station. Back in the days when you had to have car inspections, that's where I used to get them done.
