Burger King, 10030 Two Notch Road: late September 2011   19 comments

Posted at 11:32 pm in closing

In Have Your Say commenter Javier asks if this Burger King on Two Notch road just west of Wal-Mart is closed.

I think, that after a thorough examination, I can say, to paraphrase some famous words, that it is not just pining for the fjords, but has shuffled this mortal coil, is singing in the choir invisible, and is in fact an Ex Burger King.

UPDATE 8 November 2012: It's to be Cook Out!

  1. when you went to take these pics, did you notice any "caution wet floor" signs blocking the entrance...I went by and thought something was up and was wondering if anyone else saw what I thought I did when I was out this way earlier this week

  2. The entrance to the parking lot, or the doors? Well, either way, I didn't see any.

  3. Thanks for all the photos. Looks like they completely removed every item with a BK logo.

  4. If I am not mistaken, this is and the old zoo BK were the only two left in Columbia 10 years ago after BK shuttered all the others due to problems with their franchise owner. (those were taken over eventualy by the Pit Stop owner.)

  6. when I went by earlier this week, there were caution wet floor signs at the entrance to the parking lot from the road...I thought about posting something but Javier beat me to it...I wasn't sure what to make of it but I think Ted's pics say all that needs to be said..

@Tom your memory is akin to mine with regard to this one and the Zoo staying put when the others closed (and many of them were reopened by Bob Brandi). The Zoo location is now Kenya Cafe and now this one faces a future I lack the psychic powers to predict...

  7. One of the worst Burger King restaurants I ever went to. Severely mismanaged. There were so many crack-addict managers at this location. Just plain lousy...

  8. Saw a sign yesterday indicating this is going to be one of those "Cook-Outs".

  9. Beth, what's interesting is that it's simply nothing more than saying Coming...Cookout on the ERA Wilder Reality sign at the front of the building. No sign of any activity on the building itself just yet so I guess we'll simply have to wait and see what 2012 brings for this site.

For a while it was uncertain if Cookout would make it here...now they're in Five Points! Will this be next?? Stay tuned...

I do think that if Cookout does open that they'll give Sonic a run for their money (as there is a Sonic within a ¼ mi. radius of this one)

  10. in recent days I've noticed that there is a construction dumpster out front and a portion of the building appears to have been ripped to the studs so something may be about to happen here...

  12. Yep, just saw the sign yesterday that it's going to be a Cookout and that they are now hiring. I like Cookout, at least I like the one downtown. They have great fajitas.

    Went by there on 1/01/2013

  15. I blame the demise of Burger King on mismanagement. The Whopper was and still is a great sandwich when made to specifications. I was a Whopper craftsman about 25 years ago. We took pride in the food we prepared. Now many times I find the kitchens are dirty and employees are just standing around entertaining each other or playing with their phones. The O-rings are great except when they are improperly cooked or fried in old oil.

  16. FYI - The Burger King on Bush River Rd. @ I-20 is closed for remodeling. I noticed this over the holidays. They are actually doing construction so it looks like they will be coming back.

Regardless of what others may say, if I want a good fast food burger my first choice will always be a double whopper with a Wendy's double coming in second. The only thing that draws me to McDonald's are the fries and that cult favorite, the McRib. Unless, of course, if I'm near Edna's. They will always be my #1!!!!! A double burger with fries and onion rings. Yum!!!!!

  17. Homer, the Brandi, Inc. BK at 2216 Bush River Road is the latest of a series of BK remodels of the ones around town...

  18. Just stopped by Cook Out for the first time today and Burger King was never ever that good, or that reasonably-priced. I don't think I'll miss it.

  19. We prefer this Cook Out as we just recently found out it was open within the past month or so. (A little late, I see.) There is more room both inside and out than Five point and more roon inside than Forrest. We expect we'll make this our CO stop in the future even though it's the furthest of the three from us.
