J. B White Distribution Center, 3601 Sunset Boulevard: early 2000s   4 comments

I wrote about J. B. White (White's) before, so I don't have much about that to add here. Actually, I don't have much to say about the distribution center either -- it wasn't a place a consumer would ever go inside, but I just wanted to note that it was here, out on Sunset Boulevard just a bit to the south of the I-20 intersection.

I see that a company called Span is using it now, though they don't seem to be doing much trucking in and out of there (granted it was a Sunday when I took these), and appear to be trying to sell the place (or perhaps they are simply leasing it until the owner can sell).

  1. Sometime around 2002-03 a business was started at this location called Return Buy.

They would accept returned goods from Best Buy and other electronic retailers, check them out for proper operation and resell the items on ebay.

    This company didn't last long.

  2. Yeah, I actually worked at this facility when it was Return Buy for a little over two years before being laid off in December of 2002. The company went under in mid-2003 I believe. Ha, definitely not surprising. My dates might be a bit fuzzy but I think that's it.

  3. I recall going there in the late 80s. You could buy up tons of discount White's stuff.

  4. I won a Sega Oddysee (sp -5) back when ReturnBuy had an open house here.
