I know very little about hair salons, but apparently Wisteria is a chain which is still active in the Upstate. This particular location seems to have been active last month (May 2018) based on reviews, so I'm guessing the closing date was probably the start of June. (I'll also note that the reviews seem to have taken a dip recently, though in general the people most motivated to review are those who are unhappy..).

I didn't know where the place was, so I stopped to look at the Sandhill directory, which you can read if you click-through to the high res version. There are definitely a good few vacant spots on the map. With the recent bad news out of the place, you have to wonder what the future will bring.

  1. Sandhills is a bit of a mystery for me. Once the bank took it over in a foreclosure when Alan Kahn had his recession difficulties, there have been more and more vacancies. Some are due to chains closing like American Eagle, Aeropostale, etc., others because there was a lack of business. Some spaces have never been built out at all since the place was constructed.

However, there's a huge amount of car traffic through the place and some Saturdays, it's a huge pain to drive through. So obviously people go there. And more and more residential apartments are being built surrounding it, so there will be even more available customers. Killian Commons, more conveniently located for non-Northeast Patrons/Regional customers is exploding with rapid growth. Althought it mostly quick service and fast food restaurants and bank/credit union branches.

  2. I still don't see how Killian Crossing will fare any better than Sandhills. With companies going bankrupt left and right and more and more people preferring to shop online, how many stores can they really put in Killian Crossing or Sandhills?
