The Sunshine House, 6074 Saint Andrews Road: 2014 2 comments
This former daycare is well back from the road around where Old Bush River splits off from Saint Andrews road.
It appears to have been part of a chain of such centers, with other locations remaining open.
There is always something especially sad about an abandoned playground.

Mrs IrmoJeff says she is pretty sure the Broad River Road location of Sunshine House was a Kindercare, so it makes sense that this one was one too.
Mrs IJ actually used to work that this location, and both my kids did some time there. The day care business is not one i would ever care to be involved with. The employee turnover rate is astronomical, and the ones that stick around for any length of time are completely overworked. Managers are always playing fast and loose with classroom headcounts, and kids are shuffled from room to room sometimes several times a day to meet those headcount regulations.
And then the parents.....
My wife actually had a complaint filed with DSS over something that happened in her room by a woman who used to hire her to babysit her kids at night while she went to night classes. THEN the lady couldnt understand why my wife stopped agreeing to babysit for her.
Another time a woman threatened my wife with her husband. As in.....my husband will be in tomorrow to "deal with you". Guess who's NFL offensive lineman sized husband was also in the classroom when that child was dropped off the next morning. Heh heh.
OMG i could tell you a million stories about stuff that went on inside that building......

Doesn't the shape of the roof suggest it was once a Kinder Care location?
