You got more miles out of this vehicle than most...I just replaced mine this summer and it had around 220K miles but a broken odometer display was one of several reasons why it was time to bid farewell to it.

Hope you are ok.
I agree with Homer on seeing about buying the car back from the insurance. My brother wrecked a 1982 Ford Thunderbird in the late 80s that the insurance totaled. He bought it back for 10% of the car's value and continued to drive it for another couple of years.

I'm going to be a little weirded out if anyone other than ted posts about fond memories they had of visiting THIS place in the 70s.

@Homer, yeah looking at it again while removing my stuff, totaling it out just didn't sit right -- I may try to see what I can do.
@rick, nope. Of course if the news lately is correct, the airbag might have killed me anyway..

@ted - I pondered over doing this twice in the past. When my old Camaro was totaled it didn't look that bad cosmetically, hood, fender and nose cap. But there was one structural member on the sub-frame that was bent so that finished that. But the insurance company gave me more money than I thought the car was worth so that was another reason I didn't pursue it.
The first time was back in '79 when my Mom's '73 Dodge Coronet was totaled. Someone hit her with so much force that it ripped the rear axle out from under the car. The drivetrain was still in excellent shape as well as the axle (believe it or not). I was rebuilding an old 50's truck at the time and toyed with the idea of using the drivetrain out of the Dodge in it until I calculated the fabrication costs for the pieces to make it all go together and gave up on that one.

Ted, the damage doesn't look that severe, considering the fact that it was a deer encounter. I'm sure the insurance company totaled it what with 500K miles on it. If they did, maybe you should buy it back, fix it up and see how many more miles you can squeeze out of her.....
