As I was taking pictures of the Burger King next door, I noticed that this Doctors Care center on Atrium Way & Two Notch was gone.

Looking in the phonebooks, it appears that it probably closed in 2009, which surprises me because I was sure I had been there more recently than that.

In fact, I went here several times over the years, most recently when I stepped on a nail in the nearby Home Depot parking lot. While, of course, it's never pleasant to go to a doctor's office, they generally seemed to get me in and out fairly quickly, and with my problem resolved or prescribed.

UPDATE 26 October 2012: As mentioned in the comments, this Doctors Care is now at 10040 Two Notch.

UPDATE 14 November 2012 -- Here are some pictures of the new location:

UPDATE 20 July 2016 -- The Atrium Way building is now Wellspring Family Medecine:

  1. I went here in 1996 when I dropped a 100 pound fan blade on my toe.

There's another dead Doctor's Care on Charleston Highway at Evergreen Avenue in West Columbia. It closed when the D's C across from the West Columbia Lowe's opened.

  2. Not sure if it is a "Doctor's Care" by name, but there is a doc in the box on Broad River Road across from Sandhills Pediatrics that has recently closed. I have really never understood those places. They're really not "emergency medicine" because they close at 10:00pm and I'm not even sure if they are open on the weekends, although they probably are. I guess people use them as their primary care physicians, but that has always puzzled me as well, the same people that use the emergency room for the same purpose. Like Ted, though, I did get a tetnus shot one time from a place like this.

  3. Doctor's care is mostly for the folks that either don't have a primary care physician, or can't get an immediate appointment. for mild emergencies/diseases. They are generally opened on week-ends. I went to one when I had strep 15 years ago.

  4. I could be wrong, but I think they moved somewhere on Two Notch between North Brickyard and Rivkin Blvd.

  5. This Doctors Care has actually moved up the road a bit, it is at 10040 Two Notch Road, Columbia, SC 29223. The new building is a definite upgrade! You can visit the same doctors here that were at the former Atrium Way location. Doctors Care is a Family Care and Urgent Care practice. There are over 50 practices through out SC, and there are 10+ locations in the Midlands alone! Some info from their web site: "While our extended evening and weekend hours, convenient locations and affordable services still make us the first choice for urgent care, we now offer an array of other options that make Doctors Care the go-to option for families and businesses seeking comprehensive care."
