Rodeway Inn, 31 Berkshire Drive: September 2024 (Reflagged) 2 comments
Well, that didn't last long. This hotel off of Berkshire & Oakcrest Drives, was deflagged as an Oyo in March of 2023, ran independantly for a bit I think and then ran up the Rodeway Inn flag. Recently it has closed off the entrance on the Oakcrest Drive side and now brands as a Wingate by Wyndham. Since I had to drive around the building to get back out with the rear entrance closed, and had my windows down, I can report it should probably be branded Weedgate...

This hotel was built as a Comfort Inn. It has always been a weird hotel. The first problem being that it’s located on a small parcel with barely enough space to have a road connecting the front and back parking lots. Plus, it’s beside a railroad track. It lost its Comfort flag and then became a Econo Lodge then a Rodeway Inn (a further degrade of flags with Choice Hotels). It then became a OYO. It was converting to a Clarion Pointe a mid grade tier within the Choice System. Choice usually lets you fly the Rodeway Inn flag till you meet the standards of the new brand. I noticed it became a Clarion Pointe for a short period before converting over to a Wingate by Wyndham. Not sure of the full story there, but another example of musical chairs of franchises for Two Notch. If you recall, the current Holiday Inn Express on the other side of the interstate was a Wingate before converting to a Holiday Inn Express.

Was this re-addressed from something else? I've been looking at newspaper archives and have found NOTHING on it, even though the building has been around since at least the mid-1990s.
