The Bohemian, 2736 & 2738 Devine Street: summer 2010 (moved)   3 comments

I've never been in The Bohemian though some of the merchandise I could see through the windows on Sunday looked kind of interesting. The vibe of Devine Street is rather distinct from the rest of Columbia, and somehow, since the days of taking piano lessons at Haven's music and talking to Herman the bird at The Aquarium & Pet Shop I haven't really spent much shopping there.

At any rate, it appears The Bohemian has found new digs about half a block towards the Capitol from its former location at 2736/2738 Devine to its new one at 2720 Devine.

  1. Actually, The Bohemian has had two stores on Devine for a while now, which is incredibly weird when you think about it. So basically all they're doing now is just consolidating the two stores. The only reason I know about the two stores is because Bill Benton did the radio spot for the Stressless leather reclining chair, which is sold at The Bohemian, on the WIS 1320 AM morning program, and he always made a point about there being two stores a block apart on Devine Street. Otherwise I wouldn't have a clue about The Bohemian.

  2. Interesting! Belk's in Briarcliff Mall (now Myrtle Beach Mall) was the same way, one anchor slot, then another slot down the hall.

  3. Actually, Bohemian was only one store selling clothing, gifts and furniture for the last 25 years on devine street. When store house went under, Bohemian leased the old storehouse space and created Bohemian Home for all the gift and furniture, and the clothing store stayed at the old location, until this past February when it relocated to five points next to Wachovia in a spot the used to be held by boutique basement. The old bohemian space was bought by the people from VanJean and will be relocating vanJean and Pout cosmetic store into the one location.
