Lowes Foods, 120 Forum Drive: 31 August 2021 (Temporary) 8 comments
Anyone know what is going on with Lowes Foods at Sandhill? They are apparently having a two day closure this week for some reason. The store has only been open a few months, it seems kind of early for a remodel.

They did the same thing for the one in Hanahan that they aquired from Bilo. They are removing all resemblance of Bilo and adding all new areas like a Beer Cave, Fried Chicken area etc. They have to close to finish up everything they can't complete while they are open.
As for Bojangles they are closing two Mondays in September to give their employees a break because they have been running short handed because no one wants to work.Matthew

Food Lion is in the process of overhauling their 6021 St. Andrews
Road location so that the aesthetics don’t look like Bi-Lo and I would guess that this is to better facilitate Lowe’s Foods doing something similar. It doesn’t make sense to me why they didn’t do that before their grand opening.Andrew

Hi there! I am a representative of Lowes Foods. The full plans for the remodel could not be created until after the store was purchased from Bi Lo. We were able to start those improvements shortly after the holidays (a lot of it was behind the scenes that you would not see). We made the choice to remain open during the very awkward phase so people could still shop and most importantly, our Hosts would still have a job. The shopping experience was half Bi Lo and half Lowes Foods (hence the logo that we used at the time). There are some things that could not be done with the store open, so this two day pause is there to finish those details and get ready for the grand reveal of a Lowe Foods. Please stop by and see a very different store.

Regarding Bojangles - Part of the current problem for restaurants is that people are taking higher-paying positions at retail stores, factories, warehouses, etc.

I'm looking forward to this. It will be amazing to see how much work they can do in 2 days! There seemed to be a lot of work that still needed to be done. I will stop by there this evening after work to see the final product.

@Andrew - thanks for that link. It answers my question about when the Chapin store will too emerge from its "very awkward phase." Sometime this fall. Distance-wise, I'm right in the middle between Lowes Foods Sunset and Lowes Foods Chapin. The team at Lowes Foods Sunset sets a high bar for service and hospitality ... and employee retention.
