Staples, 2746 Decker Boulevard: 6 September 2019 5 comments
I guess the writing was on the wall after this Staples cut their hours way back recently.
This was probably the Staples I went to most often over the years (with the Devine Street location a close second). In general it seemed to be a well stocked and run store, and I picked up my share of printer paper, hard drives, computer media, headphones, ethernet hubs, pens, post-its and other office and computer paraphernalia. The only knock on it I can think of is one that seems to be general to Staples as a whole: It always seems to take a bit longer to check out than it should.
Although they have posted a closing sign, there is not a sale going on, and the various "inventory" tags inside the store make me think they will be relocating the merchandise to other stores rather than doing a clearance.

Ross Dress for Less is currently in negotiation for this space.

^^ Making me wonder: if Ross does move here does that mean they move out of Sparkleberry Square...I remember when several stores moved off of Decker into that area and now Ross would be reversing course...and I wonder if a 3rd Staples would open up somewhere out there..

Ross wouldn't be closing their location on Two Notch to open this location. There's a big push to open new stores under the Ross format and the other format DD's Discounts. Staples is seen as a liability for shopping centers looking for anchors. They won't be considered for any additional locations in the area.

Wow, I remember when Ross was in that location when Fashion Place first opened. For some reason they didn't last. I think TJ Maxx was too much competition.

Am I the only one here that thinks "Fashion Place" should be renamed?
