Family Dollar, 3612 Broad River Road: Summer 2018 5 comments
Although I go into Dollar General with some frequency, I don't believe I have been in a Family Dollar since 2015. Of course that's mostly because there is a DG in Ravenwood. At any rate, as I recall it, this one on Broad River Road across from the new mini-Wal-Mart was fairly new. I can only speculate that having the Wal-Mart there was not good for it.

Another Family Dollar opened up at 2505 Broad River Road (up the street from this) a few years back and I have a feeling that this one being in close proximity to the other one meant that one had to go...

The company also slashed the value of its struggling Family Dollar chain, booking a $2.73 billion charge in its fiscal fourth quarter. That led to a massive loss in the latest fiscal fourth quarter.
The company closed 84 Family Dollar stores in the fourth quarter, 37 more than originally planned. The company has said that it will renovate at least 1,000 stores this year. It also said it’s open to testing again new prices at Dollar Tree, where most items are priced at a dollar and nothing over that amount. Family Dollar sells most items for under $10.

Actually it probably closed because Dollar General bought out Family Dollar a few years back and there are two DG's fairly close to this store.
