Utopia in the old Doc's Gumbo Grille location on Rosewood has moved to 4330 Fort Jackson Boulevard, the old Pizza King location across from LaBrasca's.

According to their Kickstarter for moving info, they lost their lease here, which suggests that something new will be going in fairly quickly. The place has seen something of a revolving door set of restaurants since long term tenant Keg O'Nails moved out.

Update 11 August 2014 -- Here is the new location:

  1. Ted, I passed by LaBrasca's last week and it appears they have invested some money, in their sign out front at least.
As long as I have been eating at LaBrasca's or passing by, they have not changed anything in the way they look or signage. I can only wonder if the next generation of LaBrascanites has taken over or are the original owners thinking a new age has arrived, with the way that area of town (Jackson Blvd / Devine, etc.) is becoming more "Upscale".

  2. This place was a liquor store in the 1990s. It was run by a mean old drunk. We got into arguments every time I went in there. He would still sell me liquor though. I was 17/18 years old at the time. Money talks.

  3. I had no idea Keg O'Nails was there once. Interesting. That location has a lot of potential for something besides selling fireworks.

  4. Was the Utopia location the Keg? I remember it being the liquor store, but I thought the Keg was in another spot, possbly one of the now-demolished units.

  5. The Keg was located on the other side of the parking lot. It caught fire when it was Mardi Gras and was later torn down.
