McDonalds, 2230 Decker Boulevard: June 2012 (almost open again) 6 comments
I almost forgot to get pictures of this McDonalds at High Point On Decker which has been closed the last month or so for a complete remodel/rebuild. In fact, I did forget until it is already open again for drive-through traffic. The dining room should be re-opened in the next few weeks.
I notice that the Chick-Fil-A down the street by Decker Mall is being remodeled as well.

Friday in The State it was noted that the owners were planning a grand-reopening celebration on July 28

Oh yes, most of the McDonald's are undergoing this remodel now. This particular store holds a special place in my heart. If you went to RNE or Dent, you probably either: 1. Ate here often, 2. worked here or 3. knew someone who worked here while in school. I'm glad to see the joint get classed up a bit.

Yep, I remember this one but we did not usually eat at this one when I was going to Dent, we ate at the one next the mall. Isn't this one farther down by the Bi-lo?
From the article:
The McDonald’s at 2230 Decker Blvd. will have a grand reopening July 28 after a recent makeover. Owners Willis and Clara Langley will host the celebration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with face painting, a bounce house, giveaways, music and an appearance by the Double Dutch Forces.
The redesigned restaurant will have extended hours – from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m., Sundays through Thursdays, and around the clock on Fridays and Saturdays. The makeover also includes an updated décor, new landscaping, new flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi.Read more here: http://www.thestate.com/2012/07/20/2361092/new-owners-hope-to-revive-west.html#.UBG-FrSvKSo#storylink=cpy

I had been meaning to shoot the McDonalds at Garners Ferry and Devine for a while now having realized many of them were getting torn down and rebuilt. Oops. Waited too late. Drove by this weekend and it's gone.
I have two kids who are just now growing out of the McDonalds age where they wanted to go as much for the Play Palace as anything. So I'm not a big fan of the place anymore, if I ever were. But I'm going to miss the old style.

This remodel looks to be similar to what the McDonald's at Platt Springs & Emmanuel Church Roads underwent about a year ago
