Jamestown Coffee Company, 5166 Sunset Boulevard Suite H: October 2012 (moved) 4 comments
I've driven by Jamestown Coffee Company a good many times on my way to Pizzeria Uno, but on my way there, it would be a bad time to stop because I was about to have a meal, and on my way back, it would be closed.
Now they have moved from their Lexington-ish location to downtown Columbia. As story in The State details, they have reopened inside Cromer's on Huger Street.
The story mentions losing their lease as the precipitate cause, but you have to wonder if the drive-through espresso kiosk across the street wasn't a factor as well.

UPDATE 16 October 2013 -- The old location of Jamestown Coffee is now Tropical Smoothie Cafe:

I think that Lexington just got too expensive. There wasn't a lot of parking here but the space was amazing. I absolutely LOVED Jamestown, and I'm glad they are back and hope they have the same menu they had.
That said, I doubt the drive thru coffee place will work. Back around 10 years ago, there was one in that same spot called Mountain Mudd. It did well in the cold months, but they tried to focus on smoothies during the hot months and didn't do well. Maybe this place will do better, but they're selling pinestraw? Come on.
There's another new drive thru coffee place on St. Andrews Rd. (7000 block in front of Murraywood plaza) that has a better shot of doing well.

I hear a Tropical Smoothie will be locating in the old Jamestown Coffee.

The landlord reneged on the original agreement and doubled the lease. The same landlord owns the two buildings where Starbucks is still currently located. That deal was in the works at the same time the landlord doubled JCC's lease. Draw your own conclusions.

I'm not a coffee person, but there is a Starbucks inside Target, and a free standing Starbucks in Lexington (with drive-thru) - both of which aren't far from this place.
