Taps Bar & Grill, 104 Columbia Northeast Drive Suite B: Summer 2016   6 comments

Taps was for sale a couple of years ago, and I took a picture then in anticipation that I might need it, but of course now that they actually have closed, I can't find it. If you google "taps bar columbia" it will point you to a nice google streetview picture..

At any rate, this little bar was tucked in next to the Big Lots plaza on Two Notch behind Dunkin Donuts and when I was at Big Lots the other day, I noticed that it had been reflagged as R & B Bar & Grill which is rather more '&'s than usual.

The last review I see is from 10 August 2016, so I'm putting the closing as "Summer 2016".

  1. I want to say it closed in October. I believe I was there after my birthday (Sept. 19th). Also, I talked to one of the bartenders who now works at Quaker Steak on November 5th and I want to to say that she said she has been there at Quaker for 2 weeks.

  6. When I lived in Columbia, Tap's was one of the first t places I hung out at, late '07. A couple from NJ opened it, then they had some issues with a family member back in NJ and sold it to their manager, nice guy from CT named Chris.

I really enjoyed the place, and they rarely had any issues. Chris was able to keep things going despite the downturn, even expanded into the adjacent space and put 3 or 4 more pool tables in. Bar menu was 2nd to none, consistently good, fresh, and a good variety of stuff.
