Laptops For Less, 652 Bush River Road: Spring 2015 (moved) 2 comments

This vacant storefront is in the small strip on Bush River behind Captain D's. It appears that this computer repair operation has moved down the street to the Wal-Mart plaza, and into the old Radio Shack location:

Left Computer for repair and it go stolen per say! Was told that I would get a call, but no call. Ever time I called it was something different. Do anyone know where they are currently located after leaving Bush River.

Laptops. Kind of a funny name.
Not so much Laptops anymore.
I see few people with them in their lap.
Maybe on a desk, fold down tray on airplanes, on a table, on a stand or even holding them in our hands while standing.
Not so much in ones lap.

Regardess of which of the surfaces on Rick's list you use for your laptop (I prefer to use them on a table, desk, etc. because it's steadier) the thing to contemplate is this: they have more computing power (and more capabilities) than computers both Rick and Homer most likely remember that were the size of whole rooms..

Me and my 10 year old Gateway desktop are getting along just fine and it's going nowhere until the day it goes to the bit bucket in the sky. I did, screaming and kicking all the way, buy a small Samsung tablet because trying to use my phone for internet access is a total frustrating pain in the a**.
BTW - isn't this the place that was run by the fly by night dude, Robert Pachaly, Jr., that took your computer in for service and would never return it? That is before he moved into the old RS building.

Homer - yeah, it's almost certainly run by the same guy. He takes in laptops, doesn't repair them, runs up debt with people, then shuts his business down and opens up a new one nearby. Repeat as necessary. I'm not sure how he's not in jail by now. Also, I'm wondering if the laptops he's selling are the ones he's taken in for repair. Selling stolen laptops would seem about right, given his reputation.
It's amazing how little effort he's putting into his scams now, too. Naming your business "LAPTOPS" is about as low effort as you can get. The interior looked run-down and awful, like they hadn't even made an attempt to fix it up. And the display tables were big barrels with boards lying on top of them. I can't imagine why anyone would leave their laptop in a place like that.

Which is where the term "cash on the barrel head" originated.

The only way he's still in business is because people fall for the stuff he pulls...
I don't know the answer but I have to believe that stuff like this will catch up to the people responsible in due course...all I can do is steer clear of him if I have the need for a computer repair.
