Shane's Rib Shack, 471-1 Town Center Place (Village at Sandhill): spring 2009 8 comments
I was out at Sandhill today -- the first time I had been there during the daytime for quite a while. I took the opportunity after having coffee and a snack at Panera to walk a circuit of the place (except for the Bi-Lo wing) and see how things were going (and get a bit of much needed exercise). There are quite a few empty storefronts, but most (that I haven't already done closings for) seem to have been never occupied rather than closed. Shane's Rib Shack is the exception. I'd say its closing is pretty recent because all the branding, fixtures and decor are still in place. Of course, given that the Beltline location closed recently, I suppose I'm not really surprised this one has gone as well.
UPDATE 8 Sept 2010 -- well it's now an Al Amir bringing that local chain back to the Northeast & Clemson Road:

Tom,
It must be putting a strain on Maurice's because I went to TWO of their restaurants to get a plate of ribs and both locations were out. -
I've become a fan of Hudson's ribs. Very good.

Even though I don't eat much ribs, not because I don't like them, I just choose other things, I would think that Carolina Wings/Rib House in Irmo would be very good, as their food generally is. I know their wings are stupendous.

The one at North Lake Mall in Charlotte is closed, too. The sign originally said "Closed due to Electrical Issues" but that was back in January, I believe.

I'm going to have to look at this place the next time I'm in Village at Sandhill, because I swear their signage and branding was still up last week, and it gave me the impression that they were still open. Of course, my memory isn't always the best, which is why I said I'm going to have to check it out soon. I'll let you know what I find.

Is it just me, but does it seem that almost every rib place in town has recently closed?
