Monterrey Mexican Restaurant, 931 Senate Street: 30 May 2026 (Moving) 2 comments
I'm honestly not sure if I ever ate at this Monterrey or not. I know I did at the one on Parklane, which I don't seem to have a closing for, and the one Knox Abbott. My impression has been that they are exactly what you expect, which is good, since you expected it.
This one's last day was 30 May, and they are currently closed while they set up to move to the old Crafty Crab location at 700 Gervais Street.
The impetus for the move is the fact that the corner of Senate & Park streets is to be torn down to put up apartments. You can read about it here.

There are so many better Mexican places to eat. I suspect the location was the only thing keeping them around.

I ate there a couple of times, it was pretty much the same as the other locations, but it always seemed a little off. Not sure what it was. Perhaps it felt out of place in the vista, I never could put my finger on it. Pretty sure these and San Jose are all connected. Perhaps someone else can shed some light on this.
