Target, 6090 Garners Ferry Road Suite A: April 2022 (Activity) 4 comments
Something is going on at the Garners Ferry Target. Just looking at all the containers parked in the lot, I would guess some kind of major remodeling, though I still think of that as a pretty new store. I suppose I could have found out by just going in, but I didn't have time right then.
Anyone know?

This Target reopened in the fall (October/November timeframe) of 2004 as Woodhill was redeveloped from the mall most of us remember from 1978 until the end of 2003 when they closed it...it's been a long time since I set foot on the Shoppes at Woodhill complex so I have no idea what the gameplan here is.
Be that as it may I did find this article talking about Ulta going into Target...

Talked with the folks at Bed Bath & Beyond. They also said an Ultra, and an Apple store.

I was a "team member" (they don't say "employee") at a Target in another city. More than a dozen years ago, so I don't know how much has changed.
The Team Leaders (not managers) were obsessed with zoning/front-facing: when you go around the store and straighten items on shelves, and pull items to the front shelf space. They wanted to start zoning at 3:00 PM, when the store was still open for six or more hours, depending on the time of year.
After zoning the first time, we could go back through the aisles and look over areas again, because the store is still open for two or more hours. Of course customers are still shopping and will be taking/moving more items.
The Guest (not customer) Service desk would have multiple carts full of returned items from more than one day. Myself and others were scolded for spending too much time trying to put that stuff back, because the first priority was starting to ZONE, ZONE, ZONE. I overheard one Team Member joking "We hardly have anything to zone because half the stuff in the store is piled up at the Service Desk!"
We were also supposed to push the Target credit card on guests throughout the store, but most of us didn't bother. Especially not when some of us were working until midnight during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season, and the same group of people would be scheduled to work at 6:00 AM.
There was one time when a "guest" tried to a buy a board game or something that rang up for $20. She nicely told me that the tag on the shelf said $10. After I paged someone to check, a Team Leader snapped at me for making someone check. I was supposed to change it and not question the guest. I am not encouraging anyone to try this on purpose, but it's what happened.

I’m not 100% sure but I did see a request for bids on adding an Ulta and some kind of Apple section to two of the Target stores in Columbia. It seems strange since there is an Ulta down the road at Cross Hill but I guess there is enough demand for it. Last time I was in Target, probably two weeks ago, nothing was going on inside but all the containers were in the parking lot. I wasn’t sure if it was for Target or something going on at the storage place next door. Also Party City is going in the old Pier 1 at the other end.
