Here's another longtime downtown spot I was unaware of. Apparently Hampton Place Cafe had been serving up sandwiches for 35 years, closing in late July.

After viewing their website I hate that I never made it there. Can't beat a real deli.

R.I.P. Hampton Place Cafe'! I worked here for a couple of years in the '90s as a lunch delivery driver (it was only open for lunch) during college. Mr. Gendil was the best boss and even better person. I learned a lot about the business and life in general from him. The sandwiches and salads were also all delicious. Great memories and great people.
