Home decor store Madison Hall, in the old Greenbax Redemption Center building, either closed 28 February (as according to their web site, or is in the final days of operation. I suspect the later as when I went by last Saturday (2 March 2014) the Sale sign was still up, and there was no indication the doors had closed for the final time.

  1. Kind of reminds me of Green Manor that was on Forest Drive back in the late 70's and early 80's. I worked there for a time as a delivery "Boy" at the sweet age of 18. Damn some of that Ethan Allen furniture was heavy as 1000 pounds of lead. Or 1000 pounds of feathers. My buddy and I always hated when someone ordered a triple dresser, they weighed what felt like a thousand pounds. It never failed, the room it was to go in was always upstairs in one of the old Shandon homes where the stairs went up at a 60 degree angle. We would flip to see who was on the bottom as we went up. One customer waited until we got it upstairs before telling us it was not the one she ordered.

  2. Wasn't a fabric store in this building at one point (my memory seems to think so and I find myself wondering as there is no mention of it in the main post)??

  3. This used to be a Greenbax Shop. I realize currently, the idea that Piggly Wiggly was so big that it could have a standalone store just to peddle items in their own currency seems ludicrous.
